Almost 50% of the basics were born and adopted from technical issues of earlier games in the history of fighters. While I agree bugs are something that must be adressed and fixed, theres two ways to fix it:
A) It is a harmful bug and is nothing but a nuisance on the game and it is removed
OR
B) The bug has been viewed as helpful and the developers realise this and keep it in and call it a feature becuase it has changed the way the meta was originally viewed
I'm no armor tanker but as an AV user CCP needs to go the B route with armor reppers becuase your not only asking armor tankers to stop doing thier role, but your asking me to stop doing my role as well due to the decrease in tanks
There is a very stark difference between a helpful bug and a bad bug.
helpful bug leads to new discoveries and accidental fixes usually.
Case in point in Dust 514, the double input bug lead to getting strafe speed fixed to where it was supposed to be THE ENTIRE TIME.
Or if we want to go out of game, the Promethean/ODST Tactical vision was originally a display bug. However they didn't take that bug in the raw (it originally looked like battlezone with only 1 color no model underlay) 343 dissected the bug, understood the conditions, and rebuilt it and coded up as a feature. They didn't leave the bug as is because of its erroneous and randomized and nearly unintuitive nature.
In case of the armor repair bug you have to consider it is likely related to the infinite repair bug some users are experiencing (thus if you don't do more damage than what it can repair you're not killing the damn thing,) the dry repair where the module does it's clock thing and NO repairs are given, or how fair it is to those who do not benefit from the repair 'bogus' at all such as shield tankers?
Next off the bug has probably been screwing up CCP numbers have been getting from all the match data which is critical to creating balance numbers in all scenarios. This can lead to "MASSIVE" nerfs if left as is such as reduction in HP by 66% in armor or severe reduction repair ability by a third (which if combined with a bug fix pass that could have gone unannounced or fixed by accident) would be a total result of 1/6th reduction from current if they happen at the same time.
and finally whatever the AV damage, Reppers Stats, Plate Stats, Skill Bonuses are today, they're not going to matter in a few months, I really don't' see what all the complaints about. |
